The Yamaha FG was launched in the late 1960's as a well-made, affordable guitar. This Yamaha FG 750S has an Engelmann Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, Rosewood neck and head (newer ones have spruce tops and sycamore back and sides). Numbers on the inside of the guitar are 3 (or possibly 9) then 1020848. The first number refers to the year made (either 1973 or 1979), the next two to the month (October), the next two to the day (20th), and the last three to the unit number (848). It was made in Taiwan (Kaohsiung Factory). There are light scratches in the varnish on the back, and some cracks in the lower top (see picture) that were professionally repaired. The case looks its age and travels, but holds fine though the handle was broken off on one side and reattached.
The music shop keeper who recently repaired the cracks and readjusted the neck of the guitar had this to add:

Cracks have no effect. Guitars improve with age and sound mellows as wood adapts to vibration.
