Here is a rare, vintage Goya slope-shouldered Dreadnaught guitar manufactured in the early 80's in Korea by the Martin Guitar company of Nazareth, PA. Model No G316H.
CONSTRUCTION
Features beautiful bookmatched Rosewood back and sides and a spruce top with delicate herringbone inlay around the edge and rosette (thus the suffix "H" in the model number). It has a solid spruce top and I believe the back and sides are solid as well, though after exhaustive research I've found no conclusive information to support my hunch. All the inner bracing is solid and well made with neat, clean glue joints. The quality of craftsmanship is very good and certainly worthy of the Martin lineage.
PLAY-ABILITY
The neck is straight with a working truss rod. The fretboard is in excellent condition. There are no gouges or worn spots from aggressive fingernails. There is very minimal wear on the first three frets. The remaining frets look virtually un-played. A compensated bone saddle was installed and the action is optimized to achieve a balance between tone & playability. Height between the twelvth fret and the Low E string is 5/32 (less than 3/16) and there is still plenty of meat on the saddle should you wish lower it. It has a fresh set of D'Addario EJ26 Custom Light strings (.011-.052).
TONE
The instrument produces a beautiful balanced tone with great sustain and ringing harmonics. It does not have a booming bottom-end like some dreadnaughts. This is an ideal instrument for recording due to its controlled volume and overall tonal balance across the frequency spectrum.
COSMETICS
There are some very light scratches/swirl marks on the back and sides which are too faint to show in the pictures and a couple of tiny white dots on the lower treble side (see photo 3). There is one small nick or impression at the very edge of the soundboard on the lower bout, bass side, which can barely be seen in photo 2. The instrument is in very good condition and is gauranteed to be as
described/pictured. Please read the description and view the photos
carefully prior to making your decision to buy or tender an offer as
this item is sold as-is with absolutely no returns accepted.
This is a rare, great playing instrument in very good condition. It will be a great addition to the serious acoustic collector and the demanding daily player alike.
