1975 Martin D-76 Bicentennial Commemorative Limited Edition, number 100 of 1976 made.

This is the only guitar
model Martin has ever made where the GUITAR itself is warrantied for life, regardless of
who owns it (as long as you follow the proper procedure to have the
correct documentation with the Martin Company). This model Martin guitar comes with a transferable lifetime warranty. When you mail in the included Certificate of Ownership to Martin, they will mail you back a new one with YOU as the new owner. This is only applicable to the D-76 model guitar. The images of the original paperwork shown here are digitally modified to NOT show the previous owner's personal information.

Specs:

D-size, star inlays in 20-fret ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge, rosewood peg head overlay with pearl eagle inlay in headstock, herringbone sound hole rosette and back strips, spruce top, rosewood sides and 3-piece back, mahogany neck, black pick guard, chrome Grover tuners, white-bound body, b-w back purfling, b-w-b-w-b top purfling, 15-1/2" lower bout, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, 3-7/8" to 4-7/8" body depth, transferable lifetime warranty - the only such model ever made by Martin. BIG sound, with blue gray OHSC (blue lining) (SN:371425). The build run of these guitars began in 1975, even though it commemorates the Bicentennial of 1976. This adds to the instrument's uniqueness.

This extraordinary guitar made it's way to us this week, and it's in impeccable condition. Included with it is all of the original Martin paperwork, hang tags, warranty registration form, a TRANSFERABLE Certificate of Ownership, a copy of the 1876 Certificate of Award given to Martin as well as a letter from the previous owner.

The sound of this 36 year old instrument is just amazing. Compared to a recent/standard D-35 (the model on which the D-76 is based) the Bicentennial guitar is much louder, with more complex overtones. This is likely due to the fact that the woods have aged, and the guitar has been lovingly played on a semi-regular basis by the son of the original owner since 1990.

Condition-wise, the frets and fretboard are sound and in excellent shape. There are no dings or dents anywhere to be found on this guitar. There are three small lacquer checks on the face. One is by the pick guard near the bridge area, and two are on the opposite end of the pick guard toward the neck. The photos are detailed and show the wonderful condition of the instrument.

The guitar went back to Martin in Nazareth a few years back for warranty service, something you'll enjoy as the new owner of this instrument.

The action is nice and comfortable all the way up the neck, with no buzzing, and the saddle has plenty of height left for future adjustments. This guitar is one of the boldest sounding dreadnoughts we've had here. Included with this auction is the ORIGINAL blue-gray Martin hard shell case (also in excellent condition).

The brass engraved badge inside the guitar reads as follows:

Bicentennial Commemorative

Limited Edition

Model D-76

This is NO. 100 of 1976
