Vintage Acoustic Guitar

 !!! -They don't make em like THIS anymore - !!!

USED - REPAIRED. This is a Premium Quality Ibanez  GX-90 BS, Korean built (late 90s?),  Acoustic / Electric. It's made with mahogany Neck, Back, & Sides and a Solid Sika Spruce Top. It features a MASA90 Humbucker Built into the Guitar. The Pickup is a LOT warmer and has a fuller tone than the Piezos used in most new guitars. There's a  3-Band (Boost/Cut) EQ and a special boost knob that offers an alternative sound profile on the B & High-E strings. It's a very well made guitar that sounds exceptionally nice both acoustically and thru amplification. Sold for $700.00 when NEW. They're getting scare and seem to be selling for $400 - $500 used.

I got this a little over a year ago. It had been hit on top of the Neck Heel by a metal plate that fell off a display shelf. The heel was severly cracked (see pics). This is an UNUSUAL type of problem and the previous owner's Ins. Co. decided to pay for a replacement rather than a repair. I bought the Guitar to get the CASE it was in, I didn't expect the guitar to be playable... !!! ... But discovered that it was basically unaffected by the damage. It played and sounded  GREAT... and it continued to do so for the next couple of months! I'd pick it up after it had sat for a week and it would still be perfectly in tune!!! SO... I got out the super glue and a C-clamp and fixed the crack, for good measure I staked the crack by drilling a couple of holes thru both sides and then filling them with epoxy. It's NOT real pretty, (see pics) but it's SMOOTH and it's SOLID. It's been over 6 months since then and everything has remained stable.

The Guitar plays with a beautifull low action and seldom requires any tuning. It's got a really OLD GRUNGY set of strings on it that sound warm and mellow (the way -I- like it). The bridge is secure and there are no indications of any other problems.  There -IS- a finish crack that runs down from under the bridge (see pic). Interior inspection shows the bridge reinforcement plate extends under this crack, there is no evidence of any crack on the inside. I think it's just a finish  crack caused the the expansion and contraction tensions of the wood. My Old 74 Ovation has done the same thing.

I've got a couple of Ovations and a Dean and I really don't NEED another acoustic, so here's your chance. If cosmetics aren't that important to you, or you'd like a WORTHY refinish project, GRAB THIS THING!  You'll be GLAD you did!
