US & Canada bidders Only!!!! Please see my perfect, 100% Positive Feedback, mostly vintage music gear, and bid with confidence. This is a NO RESERVE auction for an all original, early Gibson LGO, likely mid to late ‘50’s (vs. the more common 60’s models). I have never seen another LGO with this pickguard and rectangular rosewood bridge combination. The typical LGO’s were made with the ‘screw-down’ pickguard and ‘belly-forward’, plastic bridge. This is indeed a rare, little jewel, and it's all original. It even has the Tall-Thin bracing you typically see in the 40’s and early ‘50’s Gibsons, like the J-45’s. While this model does not have the popular X-bracing, the ladder bracing on this particular guitar is so old, tall and thin in shape, that it is quite the Boomer. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have solid mahogany that’s 50 plus years old either…

Condition: This guitar is in perfect used condition, other than normal scuffs and scratches, and a serious player! Zero issues. Original tuning keys, bridge, pick guard, etc… Neck is straight as an arrow, action is low with no buzz and intonation is perfect - frets & fret board in excellent condition, and for whatever reason the pictures don't actual do this guitar any justice. The mahogany on this is actually very, very dark but for some reason the pics have the light shinning on it so it appears lighter than it really is? I was going to use this as a graduation gift for my 18 yr. old daughter, but she jumped from folk to punk on me in a matter of months… (go figure, right?). Anyway, I had wanted this little jewel to be set-up perfectly for her so I took it to my old friend, George Petsch, owner of Maple Street Guitars here in Atlanta, and I told him that it was going to be for my daughter so I wanted the neck, frets, nut, saddle dressed and set up perfectly… $200 later, it plays like butter and sounds loud and boomy as it should. The lows are certainly not that of a ‘J’ model but they’re quite punchy and the highs have that beautiful, ‘bright-but-warm’ sound that the early Jumbo Gibsons are famous for…  I also installed a Baggs I-Beam system but I’m removing it to use on another guitar in my collection. The Baggs pick-up simply sticks to the underside of the bridge plate with two sided tape so there are no messy holes either. The only left-over from this is the end strap button being removed, so you’ll need to plug it if you choose not to install an acoustic pickup… Also, George cut a new bone nut and bone saddle but of course, I will include the originals in the case. Lastly, speaking of case, the original case will be included but it’s the old ‘fake alligator’ case and not at all worthy of carrying this guitar around in. It closes and of course fits the guitar perfectly, but there are a few tears here and there and most importantly, this guitar deserves to be traveling or carried in a ‘hard shell’ case. I imagine that a nice classical case would be the perfect fit for this, measurements are approx: 30.5 inches long, lower bout 14.5 inches, upper bout 11.5 inches, body length 19.5 inches.

SHIPPING: Flat shipping rate of $45, US or Canada, which will include $1000. Insurance. I’ll ship the guitar in the original case, boxed nice and tight, with slightly loosened strings. Enjoy...
