Gibson Nick Lucas 1936 vintage guitar original 14fret maple

The Nick Lucas Special guitars are amongst the rarest and most sought after
vintage guitars, and the 14 fret configuration is the rarest and most sought
after amongst them. I have owned more than a dozen of Nick Lucas guitars over
the years, including three such maple 14 fret specimen, and this particular
guitar is far and away the best sounding of them. Not in museum condition but
lots of character.

Below is the description when it was offered at Gruhn’s in Nashville, where
I saw it and pulled the trigger within hours. I always pay special attention
when a guitar is characterized as having “superb sound” at Gruhn, where the
vast majority of instruments are advertised without a special mention of sound.
When they are special in the tonal compartment, Gruhn adds “excellent sound”,
and only for the very special ones, the nomer “superb sound” is reserved.  The Gruhn ad read:

“1936 Nick Lucas Special, VG, moderate playing wear, 14 3/4" body
width, 14-fret neck, curly maple back and sides, neck reset and refretted,
truss rod replaced, neck refinished and relic'd, work done by Gruhn Guitars,
replacement Grover tuners, superb sound, extremely rare model, OHC “

Several of the people working at Gruhn told me that it was a total
favourite amongst staff and everybody in the shop just loved playing it. It
really has an explosive sound, clear and balanced, not at all tubby as these
can sometimes be.

It has two repaired cracks, one on side and two on the back. Bridge plate
has been replaced with correct sized one. Some touch up to wash boarded
areas.  All work done to highest
professional standard by Gruhn’s. The Grover tuners are vintage of the correct
type and period. Original case is the typical red line type.

The only work done after purchasing it from Gruhn was the very subtle
touching up of some worn areas on the top with super thin coat of protective
nitro finish, done by master luthier Thomas Amberger. I am assuming that this
could be relatively easily be wiped off again, should the new owner prefer the
rough look of bare wood in those spots. Some of the pictures I uploaded show
the guitar prior to the touch up, so that you can see the difference (and that
it looks better now, in my opinion).

The guitar is set up perfectly with low action with plenty of saddle left
and no buzzing.

An excellent condition Nick Lucas maple sold at ebay for 40K, about a year
ago. This is not in perfect condition, as reflected in the price, but equally
rare and most likely a superior player.

Guitar is in the UK, shipping within UK estimated 100 GBP, within EU 150
Euros, to US around 350 USD, each without insurance which will be extra. If
shipped to the US, no import taxes due as "made in USA".  Please note my ebay reputation, I have
