Vintage Acoustic Guitar

Up for auction is this Vintage Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar - Serial Number: A900052. According to my research, the guitar was built between 1973 and 1975. I am not sure of the exact year, as the Gibson system of numbering during those years is a little vague. I have owned the guitar since 1986, and I am the second owner. I bought the guitar locally from an individual. It has mostly been played in my home and has always been stored in a controlled environment. Never subjected to extreme heat or cold. The guitar has not been abused, but it is certainly not perfect. There are some scratches, buckle rash and some nicks. There is also some finish "checking" that is typical of Gibson guitars that are nearly 40 years old. The guitar sounds excellent, true to the Gibson signature of warmth and clarity that you would expect from this fine instrument. The neck could stand some minor adjustment, as the guitar has hardly been played within the last 2 years.

The guitar is all original, with the exception of the following: 1) The previous owner added a "wire" type pickup under the bridge saddle. Along with this, the rear strap button was changed to add a 1/4" phone jack. I have used the pickup along with an external preamp and it works well. This could easily be removed and the strap button replaced with a standard Gibson button, if desired. 2) The gold plated pins were added to the bridge a few years ago. This could also be easily returned to the standard white or ivory pins.

All things considered, this guitar is in very good condition and sounds and plays excellently. You will not be disappointed.

Comes complete with genuine Gibson Hummingbird hard shell case. Case is about 6 years old - Premium purple plush case with storage compartment. Very well made and in excellent condition.
