1959 Gibson LG

(NOTE...PIX are not loading tonite...will fix in the morning...thanks)

Tonite I am offering a very cool old Gibson.

This little jewel came in the store several weeks back in the form of a busted up, hand painted LG0.

The top had about 6 different severe cracks, a changed bridge, wrong pickguard, changed tuning keys and a horrible neck set.

Since then, I have removed the old top and custom made a spruce, X-braced top with light weight scalloped braces.

Back and top were then rerouted for LG-2 style bindings.

All of the finish was carefully removed. Cherry pore filler applied followed by nitro lacquer cherry finish. The neck, back and sides received cherry toner while the top actually received more of an opaque cherry finish like Gibson would have done back in the day, with the grain still somewhat visible.

Custom made white pickguard aged somewhat to a more parchment tone.

The entire guitar received an aged amber light toning to "warm" the cherry finish.

A new period correct rosewood bridge with bone saddle was also custom made and installed.

Please ask any questions regarding this guitar.  Check all of the detailed photos below.

E-mail or call Main Street Vintage Guitars @ 662-842-9697 between 10am to 6pm Central Time with any questions.

Thanks, Mike.
