If you’ve ever wanted to experiment with adding the power of a 12-string to your gig list or repertoire, here may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Fender is perhaps best known for its iconic electric guitars, but that same engineering and attention to detail is evident in their acoustics, possibly even more so in the models made in Japan under Fender supervision. This guitar was evidently made in 1986 in Japan during the building of the new Fender factory in California. While their 12-string guitars are not widely distributed in the U.S., they are extremely popular elsewhere in the world—particularly in England.
There is abundant evidence of this high quality in the F-310 12-string’s fully bound spruce top and beautiful mahogany sides and bound back, inlaid rosette, and 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl dots. The headstock repeats the mahogany finish accented by the chrome enclosed tuners, while the rosewood bridge and 12 black white-dot pegs complement the tortoise pick guard. Check out the pictures: this is one beautiful guitar!
Since I don’t play a 12-string, I can’t speak very reliably for its playability compared to other 12-strings, but it plays chords remarkably easily and it produces a huge sound compared to my Sigma 6-string. The body dimensions are similar to most dreadnoughts (although the headstock is longer to accommodate the 12 tuning keys) It’s relatively light weight and very comfortable to handle, but it plays much bigger than it is.
There are virtually no cosmetic issues with the guitar; the only dings I could find in an inch-by-inch search were two about the size of a pencil lead on the heel. Structurally, it’s in perfect shape, with none of the problems sometimes found in used 12-strings: the bridge is solid, the neck is straight as an arrow, the top is flat, there are no cracks or scratches of any kind, very little fret wear—even the pick guard looks virtually brand new. All in all, it’s a great guitar for my buy-it-now price, and would be an ideal way to start your 12-string career.
Unfortunately, there is no case, but it will be carefully wrapped, cushioned, and boxed. Buyer pays a flat rate of $38 for shipping to the lower 48 states; shipping costs elsewhere will be negotiated as necessary. Payment by Paypal is preferred; cashiers and personal checks are acceptable, but checks must clear before the guitar will be shipped.
I have made every effort to describe and illustrate this guitar and case with scrupulous accuracy. Its return will not be accepted unless it can be shown that it was inadvertently misrepresented in this listing.
Good luck!
